Every watch sold by ChronoLuxe passes a five-step authentication before it reaches the listing photos. This page explains what we check, what is covered by our warranty, and what to do if anything is amiss after delivery.

The Five-Step Process

1. Provenance & Paperwork

We start with the paper trail — original purchase receipt, manufacturer warranty card, and any service history available. Watches without provenance are inspected to a stricter standard before we make an offer.

2. External Inspection

Case finishing (brushed vs polished transitions), engraving depth, hallmark stamps, lug holes, crown and pusher action. Replacement parts and aftermarket modifications are noted on the listing if present.

3. Movement Verification

Case-back opened in a dust-free environment. Calibre number, serial, and rotor signature checked against manufacturer records. Movement photographed under raking light for the listing.

4. Timing & Function Test

Watch wound to full reserve, placed on a Witschi timing machine for 24 hours across six positions. We publish the actual rate (e.g. +3.2 seconds per day, dial-up) on the product page — not the manufacturer’s spec.

5. Cosmetic Sign-Off

Crystal pressure-tested for water resistance per ISO 22810. Bracelet sized to wrist on request. Final macro photography under controlled studio lighting at 50 mm and 100 mm focal lengths.

What We Will Not Sell

  • Service-replacement dials sold as original (unless explicitly disclosed and priced accordingly).
  • Watches with non-matching case, dial, and movement serials when serials are documented for that reference.
  • Recased or franken pieces presented as factory-original.
  • Smartwatches activated to another Apple ID / Google account that we cannot release.

2-Year ChronoLuxe Warranty

Every watch ships with a ChronoLuxe in-house warranty for 24 months from delivery. This is in addition to any remaining manufacturer warranty.

What is Covered

  • Movement defects causing accuracy outside published rate (more than ±10 seconds per day for mechanical / automatic, ±60 seconds per month for quartz).
  • Crown, pusher, and bezel mechanism failure.
  • Crystal cracking under normal use (not impact-related).
  • Case water-resistance failure when seal has not been broken.

What is Not Covered

  • Battery replacement on quartz movements (consumable).
  • Strap, buckle, and clasp wear.
  • Damage from impact, immersion beyond rated depth, magnetism, or unauthorised servicing.
  • Loss or theft.

Trade-In Programme

Bringing your current watch toward a ChronoLuxe purchase? We offer trade-in valuations through the same five-step process, with a written quote valid for 14 days. Email concierge@chronoluxe.com with photos of the watch, papers, and box for a starting valuation.

Authentication After Purchase

If you have inherited or independently bought a watch and want it authenticated, we offer a paid third-party service. Pricing depends on reference complexity and movement; quotes are flat-fee and no-obligation. Same five-step process, written report on letterhead, photographs included.
